About

The DP-OBC-0402 is a rugged, compact On Board Computer developed by Data Patterns (India) that provides a low-power solution for signal processing and communication interfacing across the various subsystems of cube satellites and other mission-critical spacecraft systems. Built around a dual-core e200 core processor capable of operating in lock-step mode (for radiation-tolerant fault detection) or decoupled parallel mode, the OBC is packaged in the PC104 form factor for easy mechanical integration into small satellite buses. It offers extensive I/O connectivity (4x RS422, 2x SPI, 3x I2C, 2x Flex CAN, and a 10/100 Mbps MII Ethernet interface), on-chip ECC-protected memory, 8GB SD card storage, 2MB external flash and 8MB SRAM, plus a built-in ADC for temperature and sensor monitoring and a watchdog timer for processor health supervision. Designed for high reliability, it supports full redundant bus configuration using two OBCs with a redundant switching module. As the core avionics computer of Data Patterns’ standard Nano Satellite bus product line for Low Earth Orbit missions, the OBC has flown on ISRO’s NIUSAT, INS-1A, INS-1B and INS-1C satellites.
