About
The Conical Adapter Type 3 is a conical grid shell made from carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) with two interface rings, produced by Glavkosmos for the Russian rocket and space industry. Its purpose is to provide the specified structural and mechanical interface between a spacecraft and an upper stage, transmitting launch loads while keeping mass low thanks to the CFRP grid construction. The adapter has been flight-qualified since 2000 and has confirmed flight heritage on the Persei (14S48) booster and the Angara launch vehicle family. It is available in several configurations, with the adapter’s height, mass and ring bore diameters varying by fitment (four sub-variants: 1200/150/900/150 mm height, 134.82/19.82/115/115 kg mass). Glavkosmos states the product can be adapted to individual customer interface requirements on request.
