About

Axiom Station is Axiom Space’s commercial space station program, developed under a NASA Space Act Agreement to initially attach modules to the International Space Station and later detach as an independent free-flying commercial station once ISS is retired. This staged approach allows Axiom to establish operations, validate systems, and build a customer base while ISS remains operational, ensuring continuity of commercial low Earth orbit presence as NASA transitions from directly operating ISS to purchasing services from commercial providers.

The Axiom Station architecture includes multiple specialized modules: habitation modules providing crew living quarters designed with a focus on comfort and functionality beyond the utilitarian design of legacy ISS modules, research and manufacturing modules supporting commercial microgravity research and in-space production, and power/thermal modules providing the independent life support, power generation, and thermal management systems required once the station detaches from ISS.

Axiom’s modules are designed for a new generation of LEO commercial activity encompassing tourism, national astronaut programs, pharmaceutical and materials research, and in-space manufacturing. The company has flown multiple private astronaut missions (Ax-1 through Ax-4 and ongoing) to the ISS in partnership with SpaceX Crew Dragon, building operational experience and customer relationships ahead of the station’s full deployment.
