About Tianqi Satellite (Guodian Gaoke)

Beijing Guodian Gaoke Technology Co., Ltd. (国电高科), founded in June 2015 in Haidian District, Beijing, is a Chinese commercial space company specializing in the design, manufacturing, launch and operation of low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite constellations for the Internet of Things. The company built and operates China's first commercial LEO satellite IoT network, the Tianqi (天启, "Apocalypse") constellation, which provides low-power, low-cost, two-way narrowband machine-to-machine (NB-IoT/M2M) data connectivity to ground terminals anywhere on Earth, including areas without terrestrial cellular coverage.

Guodian Gaoke holds three core capabilities: whole-satellite research and manufacturing, constellation construction and operation, and ground-terminal development. As of the completion of the first phase of its global network the company had over 37 Tianqi satellites in orbit, enabling revisit intervals as short as roughly 1.5 hours, with low-cost, low-power ground terminals designed for asset tracking, smart agriculture, forestry, energy and pipeline monitoring, environmental and hydrological monitoring, smart ports and maritime logistics, and emergency communications. The company has announced plans to expand the constellation to several hundred and eventually thousands of satellites in later phases.

The company was the first in China to be granted a commercial trial license for satellite IoT constellation radio business operations, and has been recognized as a national "little giant" (专精特新) enterprise and a national high-tech enterprise. Guodian Gaoke has partnered internationally with satellite communications providers such as StarWin, Q-KON and MEASAT to extend Tianqi-based IoT connectivity services into South Africa and Southeast Asia.
