Thales DIS

Thales DIS (Digital Identity and Security) is a division of Thales Group, formed in 2019 from the integration of Gemalto into Thales, headquartered in Meudon, France. The division develops digital security and identity technologies including SIM and eSIM cards, secure elements, biometric identity documents, payment cards, hardware security modules (HSMs), and IoT connectivity and authentication solutions (including IoT SAFE) for telecommunications operators, financial institutions, governments, and enterprises worldwide.

Thales DIS's IoT security and eSIM orchestration technology is designed to work across terrestrial and non-terrestrial (satellite) connectivity platforms, providing secure provisioning, authentication, and remote management for connected devices regardless of the underlying network. However, Thales DIS does not currently market a dedicated satellite-specific hardware product line; its former Cinterion cellular/IoT module business, which included satellite non-terrestrial-network (NTN) modules, was divested and now operates as the independent company Telit Cinterion.

As a sibling division within Thales Group alongside Thales Alenia Space (spacecraft manufacturing, provider 4530) and Thales Cryogenics (provider 4531), Thales DIS is included in this catalog for its role in the broader security ecosystem relevant to satellite ground segments and connected space applications, though it should not be conflated with the Group's dedicated space-hardware businesses.
