GENMAT-1 Hyperspectral Imaging Satellite
In-orbit technology demonstration satellite validating computationally-discovered materials and hyperspectral imaging systems in the space environment.
Description
GENMAT-1 is a small satellite mission developed to validate advanced materials and hyperspectral imaging technology in orbit, demonstrating the practical application of GenMat's AI/quantum-discovered materials in the harsh space environment. The mission serves as a proof point for materials developed through the ZENO computational discovery platform, testing their radiation tolerance and thermal performance in situ. Following the 2024 restructuring of GenMat's business, the space and satellite assets including the GENMAT-1 programme were retained under the STARVASA venture led by founder Deep Prasad, continuing development of hyperspectral imaging payloads for Earth observation and materials validation applications.
