Fluid Management System (SPuMP / D-Pump)
Miniaturized precision pumping systems providing non-pulsating, positive-displacement, air-bubble-free fluid delivery for microgravity lab hardware.
Description
The Fluid Management System comprises three pump types: SPuMP, D-Pump, and Multiplexed Pump, providing non-pulsating, positive-displacement, air-bubble-free fluid delivery for SpacePharma's lab payloads. It is built for harsh environments with built-in temperature control. The SPuMP is a 2 ml syringe pump operated by a step-motor with a temperature-controlled reservoir; up to 4 SPuMPs can be independently controlled from one main controller. The D-Pump is a diaphragm pump with a temperature-controlled 1.2 ml reservoir, hydraulically driven by a SPuMP. In a multiplexed configuration, a control board, manifold, and valve systems enable independent operation of 4 SPuMPs, each driving two D-Pumps. The system has flown 8 tours to the ISS and 3 parabolic flights.
