About Space DOTS

Space DOTS (legally Space Dimensionally Optimized Technology Satellites Ltd, a UK subsidiary of Space DOTS Inc., USA) was founded in 2022 by CEO Bianca Cefalo, a former thermofluid dynamics analyst on NASA's InSight Mars mission and product manager at Airbus Defence and Space's telecommunications satellite division. The company was created to address a gap in industry practice: roughly 15 percent of spacecraft experience anomalies or failures due to inadequate understanding of actual, as opposed to simulated, orbital environmental conditions.

Space DOTS builds SKY-I, an intelligence platform that fuses proprietary in-orbit sensor data with external data sources to deliver real-time space environmental intelligence across the mission lifecycle. SKY-I is composed of three modules: SkyLens for 2D/3D visualization of radiation zones, debris fields and atmospheric density; SkyBlueprint, an AI-powered mission planning tool that evaluates environmental hazards and recommends design and operational adjustments; and SkyWard, a threat attribution and early-warning system distinguishing natural space weather from adversarial or anomalous activity. The company also designs and operates its own hardware, Data DOTS, compact in-orbit sensing payloads measuring radiation, electromagnetic interference and other environmental signals that feed data back into SKY-I. The first Data DOT payload launched in January 2025 aboard a SpaceX mission, flying as a hosted payload on D-Orbit's ION Satellite Carrier into a sun-synchronous LEO.

Space DOTS serves both commercial spacecraft operators and defence customers, positioning itself in the space environmental intelligence category. The company has raised $3.2 million in total funding, most recently a $1.5 million seed round led by Female Founders Fund, and was selected for ESA Phi-Lab UK's inaugural cohort.
