Simera Sense

Simera Sense was founded in 2018 in Somerset West, South Africa, as part of the Simera Group, to make world-class space optics accessible to the fast-growing nano and microsatellite market. Its 1,280 square-meter South African production facility, including a 600 square-meter ISO-7 cleanroom that is one of the most advanced in Africa and 30 percent solar-powered, remains where products are developed, built and tested. In 2022 Simera Sense Europe was established in Leuven, Belgium as corporate headquarters, aligning with its European customer and investor base, followed by a France subsidiary in Toulouse in 2024 and a UK site in Glasgow.

The company provides end-to-end optical payload solutions for CubeSats, micro- and small satellites across three product ranges: TriScape (RGB/video imaging), MultiScape (multispectral imaging), and HyperScape (hyperspectral imaging), each offered in 50, 100, and 200 size variants matched to different CubeSat volumes, alongside standalone Imager Electronics components, an Image Processing Tools software service, and a dedicated SSA Scape100 space situational awareness camera.

Simera Sense payloads are fully space-proven at TRL 9, with over 40 payloads operating in orbit and more than 50 customers worldwide. Investors include Simera Holdings, Scotstone Trust, the NATO Innovation Fund, NewSpace Capital, and Knife Capital.
