About Samara Electromechanical Plant (Kuznetsov)
Samara Electromechanical Plant (Kuznetsov) is a Russian aerospace engine manufacturer based in Samara, operating as part of the Rostec-aligned Russian defence-industrial complex and responsible for the Kuznetsov engine bureau's legacy including the NK-33 and NK-43 rocket engines originally developed for the Soviet N1 Moon rocket programme. The NK-33 engine, supplied to Aerojet for US Antares rocket applications, and the NK-43 upper stage engine represent some of the most high-performance oxygen-kerosene rocket engines ever developed, with specific impulse exceeding 330 seconds. The Samara plant manufactures and refurbishes legacy Soviet-era rocket engines and aerospace components for Russian launch vehicle programmes and industrial gas turbines.
