Safran Reosc is a French manufacturer of large precision optical mirrors and telescope systems for space astronomy, satellite EO payloads, and defence applications, operating as part of Safran Electronics & Defense (Safran Group), specialising in the fabrication, polishing, metrology, and integration of large-diameter optics from borosilicate glass, Zerodur, and silicon carbide for ground-based telescopes and space telescope primary and secondary mirrors. The company has contributed precision optics to major space and ground astronomy programmes including the Very Large Telescope (VLT), the Gemini Observatory, COROT space telescope, and numerous classified defence reconnaissance satellite programmes, applying cutting-edge polishing and interferometric metrology techniques to achieve sub-nanometre surface accuracy on primary mirrors up to 8 m diameter.
