RBC Signals

RBC Signals was founded in 2015 in Redmond, Washington by Christopher Richins, an RF communications engineer with prior experience at Boeing Sea Launch, SpaceX, and Planetary Resources. The company pioneered a shared ground station business model: rather than building a proprietary global antenna network from scratch, RBC Signals aggregates spare capacity from partner-owned ground stations plus its own antennas into a single virtualized network, letting satellite operators pay per-pass instead of building dedicated infrastructure.

The company now operates and partners on antennas across dozens of locations in 20+ countries, supporting VHF, UHF, L-, S-, C-, X-, Ku-, Ka-band and optical links. Notable milestones include opening a dedicated Arctic ground station in Deadhorse, Alaska in 2018 (a multi-antenna UHF array plus a 4.5m S/X-band antenna, later expanded), and acquiring 10 six-meter S/X-band tracking antennas from Microsoft's retired Azure ground-station network in March 2025, financed by Space Leasing International.

RBC Signals is an independent company that also partners with Viasat's ELEVATE marketplace and integrates with AWS Ground Station. Its named service offerings include Ground Station as a Service (GSaaS), the RBC Signals Xpress X-band downlink service for Earth observation operators, and a dynamic spectrum leasing platform (STORM) developed with Viasat. Publicly cited customers and partners include Swarm Technologies, Momentus Space, SatRevolution, and ISRO's commercial arm Antrix.
