About Puli Space Technologies

Puli Space Technologies Ltd. is a Budapest-based space company founded in 2010 to develop lightweight, low-cost hardware for the lunar surface. The company entered the global NewSpace arena through the Google Lunar XPRIZE competition, which gave it the engineering foundation to pursue NASA-funded payload development.

Puli Space's main product is the Puli Lunar Water Snooper (PLWS), a miniature neutron spectrometer that maps water ice in the lunar south polar region by measuring albedo neutron count rates in the soil. PLWS won the 2nd prize of NASA JPL's 'Honey, I Shrunk the NASA Payload, The Sequel' challenge in 2022, with NASA funding payload development with $225,000 USD. Two PLWS instruments flew aboard Intuitive Machines' IM-2 mission launched in February 2025, mounted on the rocket-fueled Micro Nova Hopper drone, collecting the first direct surface data from a permanently shadowed crater. ESA and Puli Space signed the first-ever exploration data buy agreement for a commercial deep space mission.

Puli Space also develops a lightweight planetary rover platform with unique mobility capabilities for carrying payloads on rough lunar and planetary terrain. The team has conducted field tests on Moon and Mars analog terrains including PISCES (Hawaii), the Sahara (Morocco), and the Alps (Austria).
