Origin Space

Origin Space (Chinese: 起源太空) is China's first private company dedicated to the exploration, development, and utilization of space resources, founded in 2017 by Su Meng and Yu Tianhong in Shenzhen. The company launched the NEO-1 satellite aboard a Long March 6 rocket in April 2021 to test asteroid observation and resource acquisition technologies in low Earth orbit, and the Yangwang-1 space telescope in June 2021 — China's first commercial UV space telescope for detecting and monitoring near-Earth asteroids and space debris. Origin Space operates the Yangwang Constellation of space telescopes and is developing the NEO-X Space Mining Robot for eventual asteroid prospecting and resource extraction. The company has cooperated with Chinese universities and research institutions including the China Academy of Space Technology (CAST) under CASC.
