Orbital Matter

Orbital Matter is a Polish-German in-space manufacturing startup founded in 2022 by CEO Jakub Stojek and CTO Robert Ihnatisin, with offices in Warsaw, Poland and Düsseldorf, Germany. The company is developing a universal 3D printing satellite — the PADS (Printer Assisted Deployment System) — capable of manufacturing large-scale structures directly in space, including satellite components, space station wall panels, lunar surface habitats, and solar power reflectors. By building structures on-orbit, Orbital Matter bypasses launch payload mass and volume constraints, enabling construction at scales impractical with Earth-manufactured hardware. The company's vacuum-compatible, heat-free printing process produces ultra-lightweight components up to 20 times more efficiently than ground-based manufacturing. Orbital Matter completed ESA BIC incubation, signed an MoU with Thales Alenia Space, and closed a €1.1 million pre-seed funding round led by Sunfish Partners.
