Orbcomm is a US-based satellite IoT and machine-to-machine (M2M) communications company founded in 1993 and headquartered in Rochelle Park, New Jersey. The company operates a global LEO satellite network providing low-latency, two-way data communications for industrial IoT applications including fleet management, vessel tracking, refrigerated transport monitoring, pipeline and utility monitoring, and asset management. Orbcomm's constellation includes 31 LEO satellites and delivers coverage to over 200 countries. In addition to satellite connectivity, Orbcomm provides AIS (Automatic Identification System) data services for maritime domain awareness. The company was taken private in 2021 by GI Partners following its acquisition of Intelematics, and continues to serve industrial customers in transportation, heavy equipment, agriculture, and government sectors.
