Nxgsat

Nxgsat is a Belgian deep-tech startup founded in 2024 and headquartered in Ghent, developing a high-speed, software-defined, interoperable 5G satellite modem compliant with the 3GPP 5G NR NTN (Non-Terrestrial Networks) standard for non-terrestrial networks. The company's virtual modem runs on commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware and is designed to work seamlessly across terrestrial networks and multi-orbit satellite constellations including LEO, MEO, and GEO, addressing the critical interoperability challenge between different satellite internet operators and standards. Nxgsat's technology is specifically targeted at enabling commercial and government users to access the EU's IRIS² sovereign LEO/MEO satellite connectivity constellation and other next-generation satellite networks. The company is listed as a connectivity service contractor by ESA and has secured early commercial and governmental contracts for its 5G satellite modem platform. Nxgsat closed a EUR 1.2 million seed funding round in October 2025, led by PMV and imec.istart future fund, to accelerate development and commercial rollout.
