NovaSAR Technologies

NovaSAR Technologies Ltd. is a UK-based satellite Earth observation company that owns and operates the NovaSAR-S satellite, a compact S-band Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) platform developed by Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd. (SSTL) with the SAR payload supplied by Airbus Defence and Space. NovaSAR-S 1 was launched in September 2018 from India on a PSLV rocket, providing all-weather, day-and-night SAR imagery at 6–30 metre resolution and a dedicated wide-swath 400 km maritime mode for ship detection and AIS vessel tracking. The satellite serves mission partners including the UK Space Agency, Australia's CSIRO, DOST-ASTI in the Philippines, and ISRO, enabling affordable SAR-based Earth observation for maritime domain awareness, agricultural monitoring, flood mapping, and infrastructure monitoring. NovaSAR Technologies demonstrates how commercial off-the-shelf SAR missions can be developed at a fraction of traditional costs.
