NorthStar Earth & Space

NorthStar Earth & Space Inc. is a Canadian space data company founded in 2015 by Stewart Bain and headquartered in Montreal, Quebec. The company is developing the SKYLARK constellation of 52 LEO nanosatellites combining space situational awareness (SSA) and Earth observation capabilities. The first twelve SKYLARK satellites carry optical sensors optimized for tracking objects in orbit, providing the world's first commercial space-based SSA service to monitor satellite collisions and space debris. Additional satellites in the constellation carry hyperspectral and infrared sensors for Earth observation applications including environmental monitoring, maritime awareness, and natural resource management. In August 2021, Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada conditionally approved NorthStar's 52-satellite constellation. Spire Global is contracted to build and launch the SKYLARK satellites.
