NASRDA (National Space Research and Development Agency)

The National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) is the national space agency of Nigeria, established on May 5, 1999 by the Federal Government of Nigeria under the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology. NASRDA was created with a mandate to pursue the development and application of space science and technology for the socioeconomic benefit of Nigeria, develop human capital in space science and technology, and coordinate Nigeria's space activities and international partnerships. NASRDA has overseen the development and launch of four Nigerian satellites — NigeriaSat-1, NigeriaSat-2, NigeriaSat-X, and NigComSat-1R — and operates the Centre for Remote Sensing, the Centre for Satellite Technology Development, and the Centre for Space Science and Technology Education. NASRDA is an active member of the Committee on Earth Observation Satellites (CEOS) and the Group on Earth Observations (GEO), and represents Nigeria at the UN Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS).
