M-10 / DM-1650 Solid Rocket Booster Motors for Ariane 5 and Ariane 6
Description
Nammo (Nordic Ammunition Group) is a Norwegian-Finnish defense and aerospace company headquartered in Raufoss, Norway, specializing in solid rocket propulsion and ammunition. In the space sector, Nammo provides solid rocket boosters and upper stage motors for European launch vehicles. For Ariane 5, Nammo supplied the P230 solid rocket booster igniter systems and various propulsion subsystems. For Ariane 6, Nammo provides the M-10 restartable liquid oxygen/liquid methane upper stage engine test campaigns and develops the DM-1650 solid rocket motor used in Ariane 6's MPS (Main Propulsion System) separation systems. Nammo also manufactures the complete DM-750 solid rocket motor used in the IRIS-T air defense missile interceptor and produces large-calibre rocket-assisted projectiles for artillery systems. In sounding rocket propulsion, Nammo's Raufoss facility produces motors for the Nike, Terrier-Malemute, and Black Brant series used by NASA's suborbital research program at Wallops Island and Poker Flat. Nammo is developing a small launch vehicle concept (Nucleus / HISP) for the Norwegian Space Agency targeting polar orbit from Andoya. The company operates test stands in Raufoss (Norway), Airole (Italy), and Backnang (Germany).
