Memetis

Memetis GmbH is a German deep-tech company headquartered in Karlsruhe, founded by researchers from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), developing miniaturized shape memory alloy (SMA) microactuators for space, medical, and industrial applications. The company's breakthrough technology uses ultra-thin (20 µm) shape memory alloy films to create compact, lightweight, low-power microvalves and actuators that can manage fluids, gases, and mechanical deployments in highly space-constrained environments. In space applications, Memetis actuators enable miniaturized valve systems for CubeSat propulsion — providing low-weight gas supply management for micro-propulsion systems — as well as fluid management for in-orbit biological experiments and compact deployable mechanisms. Memetis products are used in nanosatellite propulsion units and payload fluid systems where conventional electromechanical valves are too heavy or bulky.
