Maana Electric

Maana Electric S.A. is a Luxembourg-based deep-tech company founded in 2018 and headquartered in Foetz, Luxembourg, developing fully automated mobile solar panel factories — called MaanaBoxes (TerraBox for Earth, LunarBox for the Moon) — that produce solar panels using only sand or lunar regolith and electricity as inputs. On Earth, TerraBoxes are deployable shipping-container-sized factories that can produce photovoltaic panels on-site in remote regions using locally available desert sand, dramatically reducing the cost and logistics of solar energy deployment for developing regions. For space applications, Maana Electric is developing in-situ resource utilisation (ISRU) systems to manufacture solar panels directly on the Moon using lunar regolith, supporting long-duration lunar base power needs. The company received support from the Luxembourg Space Agency (LSA), ESA Business Incubation Centre, and secured initial purchase orders exceeding €100 million for its automated factory systems with deliveries scheduled 2024–2026.
