About Lockheed Martin Space

Lockheed Martin Space is the space systems business area of Lockheed Martin Corporation, one of the world's largest aerospace and defense contractors. The division traces its space heritage to Lockheed's early satellite work in the 1950s-60s and Martin Marietta's launch vehicle programs, unified under the Lockheed Martin merger in 1995. The division is headquartered in Littleton, Colorado, with major facilities across the United States.

Lockheed Martin Space is a prime contractor for critical US national security and civil space programs, including the GPS III global positioning satellite constellation, the Space Based Infrared System (SBIRS) missile warning satellites, and classified reconnaissance satellites for the National Reconnaissance Office. The company also builds the Orion crew capsule for NASA's Artemis lunar exploration program, providing the spacecraft that will carry astronauts beyond low Earth orbit for the first time since Apollo.

The division's commercial and scientific portfolio includes deep space exploration spacecraft (having built probes and orbiters for Mars, Jupiter, and other destinations), geostationary communications satellites, and space domain awareness systems. Lockheed Martin Space also develops the A2100 and LM 2100 satellite bus product lines used across commercial and government customers, and is investing in next-generation manufacturing techniques to reduce satellite production time and cost.
