About Latitude

Latitude (formerly Venture Orbital Systems) is a French private small launch vehicle company founded in 2021 and headquartered in Reims, France, developing the Zephyr rocket — a 100 kg payload class small orbital launch vehicle using liquid propulsion. The company was co-founded by Pierre-Alexandre Rousseau and Clément Dégremont, former engineers from ArianeGroup, with the ambition of making France and Europe competitive in the rapidly growing small satellite launch market with a made-in-France rocket. Latitude is developing Zephyr to use a kerosene/liquid oxygen (RP-1/LOX) propulsion system with in-house manufactured engines, targeting commercial small satellite operators in Europe and globally. The company received funding from ESA's Business Incubation Centre and French government-backed seed funding and is part of France's national strategy to develop sovereign small launch capability alongside ArianeGroup.
