About Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI)

Korea Aerospace Industries, Ltd. (KAI; Korean: 한국항공우주산업) is South Korea's national aerospace company, established in October 1999 through a merger of the aerospace divisions of Samsung Aerospace, Daewoo Heavy Industries, and Hyundai Space and Aircraft. KAI is South Korea's flagship aerospace and defense conglomerate, responsible for developing and manufacturing military aircraft, civilian aircraft components, and satellite systems. In the space domain, KAI developed the Multi-Purpose Satellite (Arirang/KOMPSAT) buses, contributed to the development of the Korea Space Launch Vehicle (KSLV-1, Naro-1), and is developing next-generation defense satellites and reconnaissance satellite programs for the Korean military. KAI is a key industrial partner in South Korea's Korea Space Launch Vehicle 2 (KSLV-2, Nuri) program and maintains major manufacturing facilities in Sacheon, South Gyeongsang Province. The company is listed on the Korea Exchange (KRX: 047810).
