KazCosmos (Kazakhstan Space Program)

KazCosmos refers to Kazakhstan's national space program and associated government bodies responsible for space activities in Kazakhstan, a nation with deep space heritage as the host of the Baikonur Cosmodrome — humanity's first and most historically significant launch site, from which Sputnik and Yuri Gagarin launched. Kazakhstan's space administration has evolved through multiple institutional forms, including the Aerospace Committee of the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry. The country operates KazSat geostationary communications satellites, maintains the Baiterek joint launch complex project with Russia, and manages Earth observation satellites. Kazakhstan's space policy aims to develop national space technology capabilities, reduce dependence on Russian launch facilities, and leverage space data for national economic development in Central Asia.
