Isar Aerospace Technologies GmbH is a German private launch vehicle company founded in 2018 and headquartered in Ottobrunn (near Munich), developing the Spectrum rocket — a two-stage, liquid-propellant small orbital launch vehicle designed to deliver up to 1,000 kg to LEO and 700 kg to SSO. Spectrum uses liquid oxygen and propane (LO2/LPG) propulsion, with four Aquila engines in the first stage and one in the second stage, all developed in-house. The company aims to provide flexible, responsive launch services for the rapidly growing European small satellite market, targeting first flight from the Andøya Space launch site in Norway. Isar Aerospace raised over €300 million from investors including Airbus Ventures, HV Capital, Lakestar, Lombard Odier, and others — making it one of the best-funded European launch startups. The company employs a vertically integrated manufacturing approach to control costs and development speed.
