INVAP S.E. (Investigación Aplicada — Applied Research) is an Argentine state-owned technology company headquartered in San Carlos de Bariloche, Río Negro, developing nuclear reactors, radar systems, satellite systems, and aerospace technologies. In the space sector, INVAP is Argentina's primary satellite manufacturer, having built several of CONAE's (Argentine space agency) Earth observation satellites including SAC-B, SAC-C, SAC-D/Aquarius, and SAOCOM — with SAOCOM-1A and 1B being the most advanced Argentine satellites, carrying L-band SAR (synthetic aperture radar) instruments for soil moisture, ocean salinity, and emergency management applications. INVAP also develops meteorological radar systems used by Argentina's national weather service and exports radar and nuclear technologies to other countries. The company is owned by the Province of Río Negro and is a key pillar of Argentina's scientific and technological sovereignty.
