About INTA (Instituto Nacional de Técnica Aeroespacial)
INTA (Instituto Nacional de Técnica Aeroespacial) is Spain's national aerospace research center, established in 1942 and headquartered in Torrejón de Ardoz (near Madrid). INTA conducts R&D in aeronautics, space, and security technologies for the Spanish Ministry of Defence and civilian agencies. In space, INTA developed Spain's first satellites — the MINISAT series — and operates the ESAC-adjacent space geodesy and tracking stations, the Maspalomas station (Gran Canaria, used by ESA and NOAA for satellite tracking), and the SENER/INTA SDR (software-defined radio) ground systems. INTA manages the Spanish satellite missions including the Earth observation satellite series PAZ (developed with Airbus) and participates in ESA satellite programs, contributing to Spain's status as a significant space-faring nation within Europe's space industrial base.
