Hungarian Space Office (HSO)

The Hungarian Space Office (HSO; Hungarian: Magyar Ûrkutatási Iroda) is Hungary's national space authority, coordinating Hungary's participation in European and international space programs, managing national space research funding, and representing Hungary in ESA and UN space bodies. Hungary became an ESA member state in 2015, and HSO oversees the country's contributions to ESA programs including Earth observation, navigation (Galileo), space science, and technology R&D. The office promotes Hungary's space industry and research institutions, supporting Hungarian companies and universities that develop satellite components, instruments, and software for ESA missions. Hungary's space program has a heritage dating to the 1980 Soviet Intercosmos program that flew Hungarian cosmonaut Bertalan Farkas to the Soviet Salyut 6 space station.
