Description
The Halo 12 is ExoTerra Resource's advanced miniaturized Hall-effect thruster, engineered to bring high-power, high-efficiency electric propulsion to SmallSat-class spacecraft. Originally developed at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory and subsequently commercialized by ExoTerra, the magnetically-shielded design was described by the company as the world's highest-performing low-power Hall-effect thruster ever produced. Operating across a wide power range on both xenon and krypton propellant, Halo 12 delivers thrust exceeding 100 mN and specific impulse above 2000 seconds with thruster efficiency greater than 60%, enabling total impulse beyond 7 MN-s. Packaged in a compact 120 mm diameter by 150 mm long envelope at just 3.4 kg, it is designed for integration into complete propulsion solutions alongside ExoTerra's Power Processing Unit and Propellant Flow Control system. Target applications include complex, long-duration near-Earth operations, orbit raising, station-keeping, and interplanetary and deep-space missions where compact, power-dense propulsion is required.
