Canon Electronics Inc. Space Division is the Japanese subsidiary of Canon Electronics that develops, manufactures, and operates Earth observation microsatellites and commercial satellite imaging systems, having launched the CE-SAT-I (Canon Electronics Satellite-1) in June 2017 via ISRO's PSLV — a 50 kg microsatellite carrying a high-resolution optical telescope derived from Canon's precision optics heritage — followed by CE-SAT-IB (2021) and the CE-SAT-II series providing higher-resolution imaging and video capabilities for commercial Earth observation. The company aims to commercialise Earth observation data by combining Canon's optical, imaging, and manufacturing technology with spacecraft engineering expertise, delivering affordable, high-quality satellite imagery products to commercial, government, and research customers requiring Japan-based satellite imaging capabilities. Canon Electronics Space targets commercial and government users of Earth observation data, offering both satellite products and imaging data services as part of Canon Group's diversification into the growing commercial small satellite market.
